    Default Buying Property in Serbia

    Hi,

As many of you have resided in Serbia for the long term, im curious to know if anyone has considered buying property over here?
Ive read in certain articles that a foreigner cannot buy land directly in serbia (not sure how true this is or whether there are loop holes around this). However I do have a serbian girl friend who would be willing to help Property however is a different story I presume..

I've recently discussed the topic of real estate with numerous serb friends & they say that property in general located outside of the city can go for reasonable price in comparision to western european countries. I am particularly interested in Real estate prices in suburban areas as I feel it would be crucial to love near a large city for commutative purposes.

However, ive checked online peoperty agencies & i dont see a whole lot of discrepency in prices of apartments or houses with that of the rest of western europe. Obviously agencies are taking their share for advertising property & im sure once a potential seller get wind of a foreigner interested, the price would almost always increase.

Have any of you had these conversations, can enlighten me further on this topic & provide any other valuable info / tips worth carrying out to put myself in a better position to find out the true value of property around cities such as Novi Sad / Belgrade?

    Many thanks
    Ronan

Foreigners may purchase property/land. Perhaps your girlfriend could call a few real estate agencies and inquire.
I would buy HALO OGLASI, and take it from there many many many plots for sale DIRECT from owner.
let your girlfriend do all the talking and if you decide on a price, then tell them you are a foreigner. get a trusted
lawyer to check out and do all the paperwork and just pay his fee, this way you avoid "real estate" agency charges.
There are many real estate agencies on lines I suggest you go ont heir site just to compare prices. But YES
prices are cheaper than in the rest of Europe for sure.

You cannot buy just land, there need to buy a real estate connected to it I have been informed, but there are lots of small ruined houses with land connected to them...

    Hi Ronan,

As a foreigner you can buy land as well as property if you create a Serbian company. It's a simple process and doesn't cost much. I would be very careful and check that the plot is clear and without multiple owners. You would need a good lawyer for that.
