hey all, new to the forum and will be moving to belgrade soon :)

i just wanted to know if anyone had any issues getting a postpaid mobile phone contract? i found one that works out great for me with VIP but it seems you need a credit check and a serbian id card.

im still trying to figure out how i want to declare myself when i arrive but will most likely be on a visa. any information would be greatly appreciated :)

Sasa, I have a post paid contract with telenor. I think that all that was required was sight of the visa in my passport, my "home" and business address, don't think there was anything else.

Hi Sasa,

Firstly, welcome!

Your white card is essentially the same as a Serbian ID card. When presented with your passport it proves your address.

The credit check is usually a formality. As long as you are not flagged - and it is nigh on impossible you will be - then you will get your contract.

You shouldn't have any problems in getting a no commitment postpaid contract, they give those pretty much to anyone, if you want a 1-2yr contract with a subsidized phone though they might want more guarantees, although it is absolutely not worth getting a phone through a provider here, they still don't understand what "subsidized" means and you can get phones cheaper anywhere else.

great news thanks everyone :) i saw on the site that they want to do a credit check but had the same thoughts as the rest of you. why would it matter unless i want to get a phone from them, even if i pay at the beginning of the month i dont care.

you are all right though, certainly no reason to get a "subsidized" i did notice some deals but you save maybe 50e on the device with a contract, no thanks i can probably find the same saving in classifieds. will be bringing my nokia and iphone any way

thanks again for the warm welcome and information, im sure i will be lurking here for a while and hope to meet some of you when i arrive
