Hello,
And thank you for this website!
I am becoming anxious now about a simple question. Is it, yes or no, possible to stay here 3 months minus 3 days, travel outside Serbia and come back aftrer few days to stay again 3 months? I will go tomorrow to the police but question is the difference between the law and its application? I have a regristration to the University till the 10th of June. Thanks if you may help. D.

you could do that a while ago but not anymore. the new rules (from experience with customs) state that you can visit without any special visa (considering you are from a white list country) for 90 out of every 180 days. so 3 months out of 6 months. that loophole has been closed. if you plan to stay more than three months you need at least a temporary visitor visa or some sort of extended stay visa (many choices).
if you happen to have an id card from bosnia or from montenegro then its not really a big deal, you can come and go as long as you please really. montenegrin id cards dont have limits yet, and bosnian id cards are not enforced much, however its the same rule as stated above.
i myself am in the same boat as you, trying to figure out the best way to go about my visa.
Guys, take a look at our primer on the Serbian Law on Foreigners . It may answer some of your questions.

I read before the text but it presents a possible interpretation:
The law says: "A foreigner who does not need a visa or a travel document to enter the Republic of Serbia may stay in the country for a maximum period of 90 days, within a timeframe of six months starting from the day of the first entry."
What is the date of the first entry? Does it mean the previous one or really the first one in a chronologically point of vue?
I have another question, I went this morning to this very friendship place named police station at Savska and they asked me to have a temporary residence. I was having a document from University sayign I am following courses but they refused to give me a student visa saying it is not a real registration as student. Question is that I have residence in my own cournty in Europe and don't want to loose it. Do the states exchange information about their residents? Is it making a problem? In my country to not have a permanent residence change a lot concerning taxtes and I have revenues there.
Other question is question of the practice, I called one european ambassy, they told me that it seems that in practice people are spending 85 days, go outside and get back fo a same period. The place where I have a room know says that there are no problem to come 2 times 3 months! It is very difficult to be sure!
If I ask temporary residence it looks stupid that the document received from University stops the 10th of june.
There is something wrong in the Kingdom of Denmark!
The post Jonathan made is correct, there are set limits within a 6 month time frame and it is indeed a new law so not everyone may be used to it yet and not all border official may care but it is the law. You will not loose any residency in Denmark unless you apply for permenant residency in Serbia and/or become a citizen. Temporary residence is not an issue at all. You should verify your school registration papers and get a student visa if that is what you are doing.
Serbia is not known for sharing much information but things are changing a lot now with the EU candidate status around the corner. Do expect them to do as the EU says for at least a while.
Good Luck

I think it means the first one since the law was introduced (1 September 2009).

You do not have to change resident status at home to be granted a visa here. Anyway, Serbia does not share tax and residency data with EU countries (yet). It is up to you to declare your residency status to the relevant authorities at home.

I think you should apply for an annual temporary visa based on being a student. You have your course until 10th of June, then after that you might renew in September :-)

Jonathan I have another question, I heard about the possibility to call with VOIP in Europe for more or less nothing but I don't know how it works. I heard I have to buy for 5 euros I do not know what and I do not know where, and after I can call for hours in europe for nearly nothing (like a local phonecall). Would you have any idea? D.

Have you heard of Skype? It does exactly that from your PC and from newer mobile phones with data packages

Hi D,
As Papasfritas said, there is always Skype out. Here in Serbia you have great offers from companies like EUnet* for cheap international VoIP calls. I use EUnet phone quite a bit. You dial a local access number, the your international number and away you go.
http://www.eunet.rs/voip
* I work with them, so I am biased :-)
I have been dealing with VOIP, SIP and IAX for a few years and from experience it would be best go with with a German company called Betamax.
here are a few of their sites (they have many and all have different rates, look them up on wikipedia):
www.poivy.com
www.12voip.com
www.voipbuster.com
all of their services can be used with a computer, an sip adapter, or software.
I use 12voip with an SIP program called SIAX on my iphone and pretty much call everywhere for free over 3G
Nokia works best for VOIP as their SIP client is native and built right in. You do not need extra software like on an iphone. Blackberry will not support voip due to restrictions from the carriers and there are no applications unless you use Vonage.

I downloaded VOIPBuster, well I use a WIFI connexion (not mine, shared, in public places), is this programm working with WIFI? I would prefer the use of my fix phone, Jonathan I went to Euphone website but I didn't understood a line, they are talking about sending a SMS? With a fix number? What I didn't understood with VOIPbuster is that they say they are adding 120 free days, but they don't says free of what??? I will try this because I remember one friend who talked to me about that service. Please confirm to me that the use of WIFI is not a problem?
About Iphone, Blackberry... I never see what it is, I am "old school", I just know Firefox and cellular phone (call and messages, nothing more!).
Dragan,
Yes of course you can use wifi, i use it at airports with those voip providers all the time :)
edit: you need to have a stable signal though, if there is jitter or high latency then it will not work well
About the rates though. Pretty much when you upload 10euro you get 120 days to call the free countries at no extra charge. These are pretty much western countries, there is a list on the site. When you want to call countries such as Serbia, then you have to pay but that is deducted from the 10euro you added any way.
There are currently no access numbers in Serbia for Betamax but you can buy an adapter that you plug in to your router. It will connect to the voip and then you can plug your regular phone in to it and use it like a normal phone. The most common one is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_PAP2
You need to put in the SIP settings. Here is the information on the voipbuster site:
http://www.voipbuster.com/en/sipp.html
It is not as hard to setup as it seems.

Thanks sasa, I will try. Since yestedray it was impossible to reach internet, know that the VOIP programm doesn't start with Windows I have it again. I will try again VOIP tonight and will see what will be happening.
Hi Dragan,
With EUnet phone you need to be an EUnet ADSL customer. Best use Sasa's advice :-)

Ok here I am again with other questions.
I have to contract osiguranje/ social insurance to gain the residential temporary permit, police just told me it is on Njemanja, but I do not know which number? Would you have an idea? And what is the name of the insurance I have to get?
Secondly there is a formular to get near of Savska but I do not know the name of the place (nor the street or the number). All I know is that it would cost 500 din.
They are really not helpfull with strangers, here!
Thanks if you can help.

Not sure about the insurance because I got that through my work, but the place you need to go for the forms is just along the same street as the police station, it has a sign outside the front with visa/boravak written on it. It's only a minute or two down the road towards the train station.
