Just to answer your question as well, G....
My ex, L (you know who), her mother is a professional lifelong yoga instructor, and they have a pretty cool center on Krunksa somewhere, lots of classes.

I'm just finishing my Yoga Instructor's Course and will be opening up my own studio in the next few months. This will be a mixture of Hatha postures and several meditation and breathing techniques. My classes will be in English, as I am a foreigner in Serbia, however, I've lived in this city for over 2 years.

If you, or anyone else, are interested, I will provide more information once I find my venue, and complete my training.

All the best,
Kikica

That sounds good. I'm looking for some ashtanga yoga to strengthen my core and improve my breathing ( I train jiu-jitsu and judo). Do you also do this type of yoga?

I haven't practiced ashtanga here, but when I lived in Vancouver, I was doing Bikram's Yoga (hot yoga for 90 min.) for a bit over 8 years. That's a great exercise for the whole body, and mind. It strengthens the core, improves flexibility and concentration, and teaches several breathing techniques. Unfortunately, they don't have hot yoga here, otherwise, I'd say that would be the way to go. Once I get myself started and establish my own studio, I will eventually implement a mixture of this and what I learned here. My goal is to do hot yoga here, with these different variations.

I hope this information helps. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Best Regards,
Kikica

I did Bikram a grand total of once during the height of Bikram mania in London, 2003.

I rocked up to the centre and it was warm but not unbearable.

We started off and the first 10-15 minutes were fine. I even thought it was easy.

Then the exercises got a bit harder and I started to feel the heat more and more.

Eventually, after over exertion on my part, I literally crawled out of the hall and into the change rooms. My hands started to cramp closed and my lips were hard to move. I manage to get under a cold shower and sat there for 15 minutes to recover.

I have several friends who are fanatical about Bikram, but I if you are a beginner, do not be fooled by how it starts out. Take it easy as it gets massively harder as the class goes on.

Hehe Jonathan doing Yoga is like a grizzly bear doing Yoga.

Kikica that sounds great, looking forward to try Yoga at your studio when you open it! I can bring you some clients from my jiu-jitsu club. I hope it's somewhere in the center.

Hot Yoga's great in spite of the used-car-salesmen-cum-yoga-instructors that run the show.

Hehe...you guys make me laugh. I do have a venue in mind which is somewhere downtown in Juzni Bulevar, but it's still up in the air. I do want it somewhere central, so that it's easy to find and parking isn't much of an issue (yeah right)!

I'm glad to see that there's a number of you who are interested. I'm looking forward to seeing you all there once I open.

I'll keep you posted!
Kikica

I went to a class three months ago, had a great time, and felt really relaxed but I train jiu-jitsu and judo like 5 to 8 times a week so don't have time at the moment for Yoga. It's a great activity but i get more of a kick training and competing in my sport at the moment.

In case you reconsider, I think it is a great combination with high-impact activities you do, as an addition...(as I tried it myself), you can finde them on the Facebook, Ashtanga Belgrade...

WOMEN'S DAY - GREETING TO THE SUN
WORKSHOP LED BY: Zorica Nikolić
Yoga is an ancient discipline whose history is at least 3000 years long. It helps us re-establish the connection with our own bodies. Practicing yoga stimulates the entire endocrine and nervous system. Yoga massages all internal organs, while its breathing techniques cleanse lungs and the circulatory system and help bring new fresh blood rich in oxygen to all the cells in the body. Thus, yoga helps us achieve harmony between body and mind.
Please bring comfortable clothes and exercise mats!
-----------------------------
During a short break and before the event we will be offering refreshments: tea, coffee, water, fruit, some sweets and a wide selection of material and books on women's activism! This time too, we will do our best to provide free copies of feminist publications, brochures and books by female authors.
The workshop is free and open to all women, friends, daughters, colleagues, neighbours, moms and grannies. The venue and the programme are accessible to women with disabilities, as well as those who would like to bring their children. Feel free to inform us of your needs so that we can give you best possible form of support. Welcome!
The series of events Women's Day, organized by Žene na delu - Women at Work was launched in 2008. This year it continues and will be organized by Asocijacija za žensku inicijativu (the Association for Women's Initiative). We will do our best to offer a varied, instructive, interesting and cheerful programme. It will be held in the familiar environment of the REX cultural centre. Looking forward to a year full of exciting Women's Day events!
For more information about Women's Day, please write to: zenskidan@gmail.com.

I am so happy to stumble upon this thread:)
I haven't lived in Serbia for 15 years now so speaking English is a bit easier for me, especially when it comes to yoga and spiritual growth. I just got back from India and am searching for yoga centers, meditation groups, and people interested in awakening. I would love to meet you and share the love. I am what they call a "Blessing Giver" at Oneness University in India. Here is a website if you'd like some information (www.onenessuniversity.org). I am hoping to build a community here so I can help people get connected to the source and grow in awareness, coming out of the illusion of their separeteness. Please let me know if there are any groups open to this. I just found out there will be a yoga conference in September, so I'll definitely be there. Also, there is a "Porodicni Raspored" seminar on July 2nd, which sounds like an excellent way to help people get closer to their truth. I hope to hear back from some of you. Kikica, definitely let us know about your center. Blessings to All:)

Is "blessing" what Kalki Bhagavan calls hand-jobs?
